Kaleida Receives $363,746 Grant to Establish an After Hours Urgent Care Clinic

Kaleida Health's Behavioral Health Services is the proud recipient of a three-year grant from the Patrick P. Lee Foundation to develop an After Hours Urgent Care Clinic designed to divert individuals from seeking urgent behavioral health services from a hospital emergency department.

Kaleida currently has a comprehensive behavioral health program that includes inpatient treatment, outpatient partial hospitalization, day treatment, counseling, psychiatry and substance abuse all available at 1010 Main Street in Buffalo, NY. Kaleida recognizes the difficulty individuals and their families experience trying to navigate the current system of mental health services. Adding an After Hours Urgent Care Clinic completes the care continuum and can reduce unnecessary hospital emergency department utilization when clients need services after traditional business hours. Currently this service does not exist in Western New York.

The benefits of an After Hours Urgent Care Clinic include: reduced emergency room visits, reduced inpatient admissions and correction of the deficit of after hours and urgent care services in the mental health care system. The new program will be known as The Patrick P. Lee Urgent Care Clinic and is scheduled to open October 1, 2011. It will be located at Kaleida Health's Behavioral Services building at 1010 Main Street in Buffalo, NY.

Located in Key Largo, Fl. and Amherst, NY, the Patrick P. Lee Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to providing support to non-profit organizations that empowers families and communities with the resources needed to create positive change in areas of education, cancer treatment/research, mental health and human services in South Florida and Western New York.
