Buffalo City Mission Hosts Online Journey from Hunger to Hope To Help Stamp out Hunger

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo City Mission announced its third annual hungerhunt.com fundraiser, an online experience that educates people about the plight of homelessness locally. This year’s online journey from hunger to hope is part of the Mission’s “If These Shoes Could Talk Campaign” that raises money and educates people about hunger in Western New York.

Here’s how hungerhunt.com works. During the 28 days of February, visitors 18 years of age or older, will experience true life stories of 4 graduates of the Buffalo City Mission. Each featured graduate story will take registered participants through a journey of real life struggles to help educate the community on how new beginnings were formed through adversity and determination. Correct answers will accumulate points that earn participants a chance to win weekly prizes. The grand prize will be drawn at the end of the month and includes a weekend getaway for two at Chautauqua Lake sponsored by North/South Vacation Rentals. The runner-up will receive four 200 level tickets including parking ramp passes to a Buffalo Sabres March home game sponsored by Willis Group Holdings. All weekly prizes are donated by local companies and organizations. The journey from hunger to hope through hungerhunt.com is sponsored by Creditors Financial Group LLC, Tops Friendly Markets, National Grid, Noobis, Insty Prints Kenmore-Buffalo and Key Bank. Family involvement is encouraged

“This year our online experience will introduce a new feature of technology in hopes of generating awareness of our cause through a mobile device platform,” said Stuart Harper executive director at the Buffalo City Mission. “People are increasingly comfortable using their mobile devices to do more than just have a conversation. They are taking action that helps the causes they care about most and we feel that by adding this new feature to our campaign as well as taking the need online, we can help people understand the realities of poverty and homelessness in our community.” Every dollar donated to the “If these Shoes Could Talk Campaign” to help stamp out hunger, up to $20,000 will be matched by the Patrick P. Lee Foundation.
