What We Fund

What We Fund

New Strategic Focus

In 2016, the Lee Foundation began a year long process to assess its impact in education, behavioral health, medical care & research, and human & community services.  After meeting with fellow grantmakers, community leaders and service providers, the Foundation identified two key priority areas for investment – Mental Health and Education.  By focusing funding on these two areas, the Foundation seeks to have increased impact that is both immediate and measurable.

We are proud of our past grants and the strong relationships we have forged with grantees. As we sharpen our focus on education and mental health, we are implementing a thoughtful and measured approach to ensure impacted organizations have the necessary time to adjust.

In Education we will:

  • Fund scholarships for students pursuing an engineering degree
  • Support individuals entering the mental health profession
  • Provide professional development opportunities for those in the mental health field and training for those interacting with individuals with mental illness
  • Invest in workforce development programs that lead to job realization

In Mental Health we will:

  • Raise community awareness of mental illness and serious mental illness (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder)
  • Increase public and private funding for mental health services
  • Support mental health providers with a preference for early diagnosis, mental health screenings and treatment programs
